London Riots highlight the failure of Capitalism

Before following the English press with calls for anarchy or a return to socialism it is important to examine the economic causes behind the riots. It has undoubtably been stimulated by some simply wanting to create havoc, however, could it also be a classic case of economic market failure illustrated through poor housing and lack of economic mobility? Is capitalist system failing minorities in London?

    I Think that the original cause for the riots in london (Mark Duggan's Death) was used as an excuse by many to riot and loot for their own greed. Some of the rioters tried to justify their actions by saying it was because there weren't enough jobs around. Maybe they should think that by destroying businesses, they are going to destroy jobs rather than help their situation. The Moral Standards of the UK have clearly dropped for these riots to happen.

    I think that for most people it was all about getting free stuff, about the TVs, laptops etc. and nice stuff + creps from JD. I remember one boy on the news saying that he came for the money?!? People targeted private property as well which just caused grief. Fair enough some of them were mad at the government but getting together so many people like that to jus terrorise places wasn't the way to do it.

    The London riots were wrong! Nobody has the right to steal or vandalise such a great city no matter how bad the government is or if you are grieving for that guy called Mark (who had a gun which u shouldn't). Also, what makes it worse is that the riots will only get taxes higher and students without EMA as it is our money going into the wages of the policemen who have to work extra hours and for the hundreds who had to be fed and cared for in prison. I feel sorry most for the small business' such as corner shops as most have no way of recovering except from going out of business and selling their broken shops. It is great to see big businesses such as M&S investing in those type of people to regain what those thugs(andrew TT) has taken from them.
